2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE an all-electric sedan

Plenty of Irvine and Orange County drivers have waited to make the switch to an electric vehicle until the charging infrastructure is more robust. Thanks to Mercedes-Benz and six other auto manufacturers, that time is almost here. Find out more about how Mercedes-Benz is partnering with other brands to charge into the future.

Seven Auto Makers Collaborate on 30,000 Charging Points

Mercedes-Benz, along with BMW Group, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, and Stellantis NV are combining their collective resources to create a high-powered EV charging network that will change the way Trabuco Canyon drivers plan their EV road trips and daily drives. The plan includes building at least 30,000 charging points in both urban and highway areas. This will make driving an electric vehicle an accessible possibility for millions of drivers. Not only that, the charging points will be built with renewable energy sources at the forefront to move even further away from fossil fuels. Expect an upscale charging experience at these stations, with canopies, restrooms, food and shopping locations, and other amenities whenever possible. The stations will be compatible with all EV makes and models. The first stations are planned to open in 2024.

Other Mercedes-Benz Charging Innovations

Tesla Supercharger Partnership

While the seven-automaker collaboration is the latest news in EV charging, it’s not the only charging expansion that has been lead by Mercedes-Benz. Starting in 2024 all Tesla chargers will be accessible to Mercedes-Benz EV models. The Tesla Supercharger network includes over 12,000 charging stations. Drivers will be able to locate charging stations and pay for charging time through Mercedes me Charge. Tesla Superchargers will appear in Navigation with Electric Intelligence in Mercedes-Benz EV models, making them easy to locate.

North American Charging Standard

By 2025 Mercedes-Benz EVs will meet the North American Charging Standard. This means that, not only will you have access to the largest charging network in the world, but you’ll know that your EV and the charger are compatible. Mercedes-Benz will be the first German auto maker to adopt these standards that will allow access to even more charging opportunities.
