Handcrafted AMG® V8 Power with M177 EVO Engineering

At the center of the 2027 Mercedes-AMG® GLE 63 S is the updated AMG® M177 EVO engine. This 4.0-liter V8 biturbo powertrain produces 603 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, delivering the deeply responsive performance expected from a flagship Mercedes-AMG® SUV. Built in Affalterbach according to the “One man, one engine” philosophy, the M177 EVO reflects the next stage of AMG® V8 development.

Key engineering enhancements include a new flat-plane crankshaft, modified intake camshaft, optimized fuel injection system, newly designed intake and exhaust ports, and updated turbocharger components. Together, these updates are designed to improve engine response, enhance efficiency, and deliver smooth, forceful power across a wide range of driving conditions.

The AMG® GLE 63 S accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 174 mph, giving this performance SUV the capability to feel confident, composed, and exceptionally quick.

ISG 2.0 Mild-Hybrid Technology Supports Agile Acceleration

The revised AMG® V8 is paired with mild-hybrid technology featuring a new-generation Integrated Starter Generator, known as ISG 2.0, and an additional 48-volt electrical system. This system can support power delivery at lower engine speeds with up to 23 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque.

Beyond its performance contribution, ISG 2.0 also enables recuperation during deceleration and refined operation of the start/stop function. The result is a more responsive, more modern AMG® driving experience that supports both spirited acceleration and everyday comfort.

A New AMG® Performance Exhaust System

The 2027 Mercedes-AMG® GLE 63 S also features a newly developed AMG® Performance exhaust system. Designed to complement the character of the updated V8 engine, the system helps deliver the emotional sound profile that has long defined Mercedes-AMG® performance.

With standard exhaust valve control, drivers can adjust the sound experience based on the selected AMG® DYNAMIC SELECT drive program. Comfort mode provides a more restrained tone, while Sport+ delivers a more dynamic AMG® sound. Drivers can also influence the sound profile using the control button on the center console.

Redesigned AMG® Exterior with a Distinctive Front End

AMG® RIDE CONTROL+ and AMG® ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL

The 2027 Mercedes-AMG® GLE 63 S comes standard with AMG® RIDE CONTROL+ air suspension with adaptive damping. This system continuously adapts to the road and driving situation, helping balance dynamic handling with ride comfort.

In Sport and Sport+ drive programs, the ride height lowers by 0.4 inches to support handling. In Comfort mode, the vehicle also lowers by 0.4 inches at speeds of 75 mph and above to help optimize efficiency and stability. When more ground clearance is needed, the ride height can be raised by up to 0.8 inches at the push of a button.

AMG® ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL active roll stabilization further enhances precision. Using active electromechanical stabilizers on both axles, the system analyzes driving conditions up to 1,000 times per second and helps reduce body roll during cornering or uneven-road driving.

AMG® Performance 4MATIC®+ and AMG® Locking Rear Differential

To help translate V8 power into confident traction, the 2027 Mercedes-AMG® GLE 63 S features AMG® Performance 4MATIC®+ all-wheel drive with fully variable torque distribution. The system is engineered to provide optimal grip across a range of road conditions.

The standard electronically controlled AMG® locking rear differential further supports agility by distributing power between the rear wheels based on the driving situation and selected ESP® mode. This helps improve traction, stability, and cornering performance without unnecessary braking intervention.
