Meet the all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA with EQ Technology—engineered for rapid recharging and everyday convenience. Its advanced 800-volt electric architecture, new-generation battery, and integrated MB.CHARGE services make powering up simple at home, at work, or on the road.
800-volt electric architecture enables especially fast charging with compatible high-power DC stations.
Up to 320 kW DC fast charging (with compatible 800-V chargers).
Quick range top-ups: CLA 250+ can add approximately 285–325 km (WLTP) in about ten minutes; CLA 350 4MATIC® adds approximately 275–315 km (WLTP) under optimal conditions.
85-kWh usable battery featuring high energy density and a smaller per-cell carbon footprint versus the previous generation.
Multiple ways to charge: Level 1, Level 2 (AC), and 800-V DC fast charging; dual-socket port supports J1772-type (AC) and NACS-type (DC) connectors.
MB.CHARGE Public integrates more than 150,000 public chargers nationwide with vehicle navigation and the Mercedes-Benz app, including Plug & Charge at many sites.
Fast Charging Performance (800-V DC)
The CLA’s 800-volt system is designed for high-power DC charging—ideal when you want to add meaningful range on a quick stop.
DC fast charging capacity: up to 320 kW (with compatible 800-V infrastructure).
Ten-minute boost: CLA 250+ can charge to a WLTP range gain of up to 325 km in ideal conditions.
Thermal and software management: innovative battery and charging controls help optimize charging power and repeatability during back-to-back sessions.
Compatibility note: The CLA requires 800-volt DC chargers for fast charging. Compatibility with 400-volt DC chargers will be available only with a factory-equipped converter on CLAs launching in Spring 2026. Vehicles without this converter cannot charge at 400-V DC chargers.
Advanced 85-kWh Battery Technology
Usable capacity: 85 kWh; approximate battery mass ~1,100 lbs (mounted low in the floor for balanced handling).
Cell chemistry: Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) with anodes mixing silicon oxide and graphite.
Energy density gains: up to ~20% higher gravimetric energy density versus previous graphite-only anodes; volumetric energy density approx. 680 Wh/l.
Cobalt reduction & lower footprint: further reduced cobalt content and ~30% lower per-cell carbon footprint versus predecessor—supported by net carbon-neutral5 cell production and renewable electricity in anode, cathode, and cell-housing production.
Over-the-air (OTA) capable: Mercedes-Benz battery management software can be updated OTA for continuous improvements without a service visit.
Everyday Charging Options
AC Charging (Level 1 & Level 2)
Level 1: Charge from a standard 110-V household outlet via the appropriate charging cable—convenient for overnight top-ups.
Level 2: Charge from a 240-V home installation or most public AC stations. Onboard AC charging capacity: up to 9.6 kW.
Dual-socket port: J1772-type (AC) connector support for broad compatibility.
DC Fast Charging (800-V)
NACS-type (DC) connector support through the dual-socket charge port.
Peak power up to 320 kW with compatible high-power infrastructure.
Trip-friendly: Add hundreds of kilometers (WLTP) in roughly ten minutes under favorable conditions.

CLA Charging FAQs
How fast can I charge the CLA at home?
With a 240-V Level 2 setup and the onboard 9.6 kW AC charger, many owners can conveniently recharge overnight. Exact times vary with amperage, temperature, and state of charge.
Can I use 400-V DC fast chargers?
The CLA requires 800-V DC chargers for fast charging. Compatibility with 400-V DC will be available on CLAs factory-equipped with a converter starting Spring 2026. Vehicles without this converter cannot DC fast charge on 400-V hardware.
What’s the quickest way to add range on a trip?
Use compatible 800-V high-power DC stations. Under favorable conditions, the CLA 250+ can gain roughly 285–325 km (WLTP) in about ten minutes4,15.
Does the CLA support Plug & Charge?
Yes. At many MB.CHARGE-integrated locations, your CLA can authenticate and handle payment automatically—no physical card required.
How do I find charging stations?
MBUX Navigation with Electric Intelligence and the Mercedes-Benz app surface compatible MB.CHARGE stations along your route, including nearby 800-V high-power options when available.
WLTP range added in a given time depends on factors such as initial state of charge, battery temperature, charger capability, and environmental conditions; actual results will vary. “Net carbon neutral” in battery cell production is based on measures within the production supply chain as communicated by the battery cell manufacturer and Mercedes-Benz. Ten-minute DC fast-charging range gain figures are WLTP-based and for reference only; U.S. EPA figures and real-world results will differ.
