What is DISTRONIC® Adaptive Cruise Control?

DISTRONIC®—also known on current models as Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC®—is an advanced driver assistance feature from Mercedes-Benz that automatically helps maintain a set speed and a preset following distance to the vehicle ahead. Using radar and camera data, the system can slow, stop, and accelerate your vehicle within its limits, making daily driving across Irvine, Foothill Ranch, and Lake Forest more comfortable.

How DISTRONIC® Works

• Sensors & Cameras: Front radar and forward-facing cameras monitor traffic to measure distance and relative speed.
• Set Speed + Gap: You choose a cruising speed and desired following interval (time gap). The vehicle adapts to traffic within system capabilities.
• Stop-and-Go Support: In heavy traffic, DISTRONIC® can slow to a stop and then resume driving when the lane ahead begins moving again (driver attention required).
• Smooth Braking & Acceleration: The system modulates the throttle and brakes to help maintain your selected gap comfortably.

Important: DISTRONIC® is a driver assistance feature, not a substitute for safe driving. Always remain attentive and be ready to brake or steer at any time.

How to Use DISTRONIC® in Your Mercedes-Benz

1. Activate cruise control via the steering-wheel controls or stalk (varies by model year).
2. Accelerate to your desired speed, then press SET.
3. Adjust the following distance using the gap control buttons.
4. Use RESUME to return to your set speed after braking, or cancel with the switch or brake pedal at any time.
